New York, October 3, 2006 -- Berkery, Noyes & Co., LLC announced today that it represented The Teaching Company (“TTC”) in its sale to Brentwood Associates. The Teaching Company is the nation’s leading publisher and direct marketer of university-level courses on DVD, audio CD and other formats. TTC’s current management team will continue to operate the Company and will maintain a significant minority stake in it. Brentwood Associates is a private equity investment firm with more than $750 million of capital under management.
The Teaching Company is best known for its market-leading product line known as “The Great Course”—college-level courses taught by premier professors from leading universities and targeted to lifelong learners. Founded in 1990, TTC offers more than 220 courses in eight subject categories, comprising more than 3,000 hours of content. The Company enjoys strong brand loyalty driven by uncompromising product quality and a commitment to complete customer satisfaction.
