Marlowe Teig

Marlowe Teig joined Berkery Noyes in 1990 to extend the services rendered by the firm to the educational and professional publishing community. As Managing Director, he is responsible for originating, executing and managing sales, divestitures, mergers and acquisitions in the educational publishing, professional publishing, and learning technology sectors.

Since joining Berkery Noyes Marlowe has been involved with the successful completion of 40 transactions.  He led the Berkery Noyes deal team on the sale of Global Video to School Specialty, Inc., the sale of Chelsea House Publishers to Haights Cross Communications, the sale of American Guidance Service to PRIMEDIA, and the sale of Meeks Heit Publishing to Tribune Education. He has played a major role in managing the following transactions: the sale of Mayfield Publishing to McGraw-Hill, the sale of Document Resources and Data Filing Services by The Thomson Corporation to Wolters Kluwer, the sale of Van Nostrand Reinhold by The Thomson Corporation to John Wiley & Sons, the sale of Informed and KnowX.com by The Thomson Corporation to DBT Online, and the sale of McGraw-Hill School Systems and London House by McGraw-Hill to NCS Corporation. In advising buyers, Marlowe advised Houghton Mifflin Company on its acquisition of Sunburst Communications and advised Pearson Education on their investment in Boxer Learning.

Marlowe is a 30-year veteran of the information/publishing industry. He began his career as an editor in Prentice-Hall's College Division and then spent 16 years with Harcourt Brace Jovanovich in various senior management positions and was elected Vice President in 1975. He joined Houghton Mifflin in 1980 as Director of the School Division and was elected Executive Vice President in 1986. Between 1987 and 1988 Marlowe was Vice President Educational Publishing at Macmillan.

Marlowe has served the industry through the Association of American Publishers, where he served as Chairman of the Executive Committee of the School Division of the Association of American Publishers. He has also served the AAP as a member of the Freedom to Read Committee. He is a past Trustee and Corporator of the Dana Hall School in Wellesley, MA.

He holds a B.A. in English literature from the University of Michigan.
